Fall 2008

Primary Responsibilities: Run Prompter, Chart Cameras, Distribute Rundowns and Scripts, Occasionally Edit, Shadow Producers & Reporters, Write Bumps & Teases, Record Stand Ups While Out With Reporters.

Changes in Primary Responsibilities: Slightly, you have the opportunity to do just about anything. Its up to the individual to step forward and ask to do different things, i.e. go out with reporters.

Overall, I would rate this experience as Excellent.

I would recommend this site to other students. I loved it, the people were great and always willing to teach or answer questions. But in news be prepared to "hurry up and wait."

If I could change an aspect of this placement it would be to have been placed in the news department and work with reporters and producers the whole semester rather than spending time in production, which doesn't interest me.

Advice: Take initiative. If you want something ask, worst that can happen is being told no. Take all the experience you can get it will all help.
