Umass Athletics(Boyden Gym); Amherst, MA

Responsibilities: Update statistics, organize computer files and help with video editing on athletic website. There were jobs that i was able to do that were out of the ordinary routine, for instance, I worked a UMass hockey game. I rate this placement excellent in every category and i highly recommend it to other interested students. Everyone is very helpful and wonderful to work with. There was a lot of learning opportunities for me in this job. I would not change anything about this placement even if i could. My advice to other students is to take your internships seriously. The people there are expecting you to complete your work to help them, because it is their career. Be professional in every aspect of the work.

Sustainability Initiative; Amherst, MA

Responsibilities: -Encourage and plan events to recycle -Research ways to improve recycling on campus. There were no changes in my responsibilities as the placement progressed. I would rate this placement overall as very good and i recommend it to other interested students. Meeting the people that make UMass work and function is very eye opening. The amount of work that they do will make you appreciate what you see on campus and realize how uncooperative students and faculty can be. I would not change a thing about this placement. My advice for other students is that if you want to get paid, get a job that pays, not an internship. Expect to be doing alot of work, just to receive the credits and remember that you are doing it for the experience, not the money.

Mass Mutual Center; Springfield, MA

As an intern i performed general customer service duties, assist in day to day planning operational, attended appointments with clients and performed general administrative duties. There were no changes over the course of the placement. I would rate this placement as excellent in every category and i would highly recommend this placement to other interested students. I was a great learning experience and a fun atmosphere to work in. It didn't feel like a job, it was fun and enjoyable to go to daily. If i could change anything about this placement, i would have liked it to have been a little closer, but there isn't anything that can be done about that. My advice for other students is for you to make sure that you find somewhere that you can learn as well as feel comfortable.

It is a hands on experience instead of reading and testing about how different people learn, you're actually experiencing it and having to figure out which procedures are best for each individual.

My advice to students is to be prepared to need patience, versatility, and don't be afraid to slightly change your plans when situations happen in a workout.
