Northampton Mayor's Office

Fall 2008

Primary Job Responsibilities: Working closely with the mayor's youth commission and help them with a mini-grant project they were working on. I guided them through this whole process and served as a liaison for whatever they needed, attending all of their meetings. I helped other people in the mayor's office with projects they needed help with as well.

Overall evaluation: Excellent!

I would recommend this site, I had a great time working here and I learned a lot about the city and how things work. I have a greater appreciation for the amount of work put in by city employees to make our city the great place it is.

If I could change one aspect of this experience it would be the duration. It went by fast and I wasn't able to do everything I wanted to do. If there were more time I could have helped the youth commission out more, and helped the mayor more with youth involvement in city stuff.

The advice I would give to other students would be to spend time looking for a placement that appeals to you because you want to make the right choice. There are a lot of good opportunities out there!
