Cargill

Summer/Fall 2008

Primary Job Responsibilities: Find water/waste water reduction opportunities in the plant and evaluate. Took over an energy metric project from past intern. Evaluate plant sewer/bad sources and opportunities for reduction.

Changes in Responsibilities: Over time, I spent more time on energy & water reduction, not so much work w/sewer. I did a lot of training in different areas, each intern/co-op gets different projects/areas of focus.

Overall evaluation of field site: Very Good

I would recommend this site to other students, it provides a lot of learning opportunities, and has allot of freedom with respect to choosing what projects you want to work on.

If you could change any aspect what would it be: It would have been better if I had an internship, rather than a co-op. The co-op was a little long. Also I did not like Memphis that much. In the future I would choose a different Cargill location.

Advice: Be very careful to make sure your academic plan coincides with taking a semester off for a co-op, especially in engineering.
