Fall/Winter 2008

Primary Job Responsibilities: Assisting the advertising department w/the following and more:

putting together media kits, presentations, and mailings
travel reservations
research
filing
categorizing magazines
sending out checking copies
updating ACT (client database)
Changes in primary job responsibility: At first I did almost everything in collaboration w/my supervisors, but by the end and I was completing and even creating many of my own projects.

Overall evaluation: Excellent

I would recommend this internship because it is a great environment. I was able to get a look a the business side of publications (esp. advertising) while being in a very creative atmosphere.

Would you make any changes: My commute. I spent 3-4 hours on the road in L.A. everyday I went to work. I was also commuting to and from San Diego on the weekends. It was stress full and time-consuming!

Advice: Make as much as you can out of your placement. You will only get out of it as much as you put into it! Although some days may seem challenging and more busywork than anything, remember they will pay off in the end.
