Pratt & Whitney; East Hartford, CT

The main requirements of this job were to;
-Perform non dimensional analyses using the Buckingham-Pi theorem for different bearing properties
-Reduced transit data from a variety of rig tests and analyzed heat generations and scoop efficiencies for different parametric test points
-Created a model to estimate the bearing stiffness for 18 roller bearings and 1 ball bearing
-Researched oil film thickness calculations done in bearing model for best industry practice
There were no changes in my primary job responsibilities.
I would rate the overall field placement site as "Excellent - Very good".

I would highly recommend this site to other students. Pratt & Whitney has a lot of opportunities for students of a variety of majors besides engineering. It has a lot of different locations like Connecticut, California and Florida.
I would have like to have had more exposure or tours to different departments in the company to get a good feeling of how the company works as a whole.

My advice for other students pursuing a field experience placement in the future I recommend;
-Get your research don and take advantage of the different services provided for the field placement
-Start applying Early and don't wait until the deadlines are close
-Make sure to prepare and attend career fairs sponsored by the career services
