Baystate Medical Center, Springfield MA

Primary job responsibilities;
Write and edit press releases, media advisories and story pitches for potential placement in local TV and print media. Escort media when on Baystate grounds.

Over the course of my placement there was less media advisory and press release writing and more story pitches.

I would rate my experience as very good and I would recommend this site to other students because it is good exposure to the daily press demands of a large organization.

If I could change anything about this placement I would have more daily press releases and media advisory writing. This aspect of the job tailed off towards the end of the semester.

To future students I would advise them to get a clear sense of the jobs duties and expectations beforehand. Talk to someone who has interned (or worked) at the company. Ask lots of questions!
