UMASS Amherst (All Departments)

Spring 2009

Student Legal Services

--Assist supervising attorneys in initial interviewing, legal research, giving advice and referrals, preparing court forms, attending court hearings.

--I became responsible for maintaining all of the immigration that came to the office, in addition to my other responsibilities.

--This was an excellent experience overall. All students who are Legal Studies major or want to pursue a career in law should take advantage of this experience

--I wish more immigration cases came through our office because that's the field of law I'm most interested in.

--I believe that all students should either do an internship or clinical before graduating, I thought this experience was very beneficial to prepare for the workforce.
