Media Education Foundation

My responsibilities were to oversee media operations (facebook, twitter, youtube), submit films to numerous conferences, update the website, acquire blurbs and quotes from notable leaders of organizations, and to compile press kits and more. As the semester progressed I received new projects, but they all remained relevant to my major.

Overall I rate this placement as Excellent and I recommend it to other students that might be interested, particularly for communication majors. Since they would be interested in topics Jhally discusses in his class, it brings together learning and knowledge from the classroom with practical work skills.
If I could have changed anything about this placement I would have liked to have had the opportunity to learn skills in production as well.

My advice for other students in the future is that if there is no salary or stipend, try to find placements in the area. There are plenty of wonderful organizations in the Amherst and Northampton areas.
