The Daily Collegian (UMASS); Amherst, MA

Job Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining and reviewing ad requirements with ad representatives

  • Designing advertisements for local companies and franchises

  • Using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop

  • Submitting designs to be printed in the following day;s newspaper

Over the course of my placement I was assigned to take on more creative projects as my work was recognized by the other staff members.

I would rate my placement as very good.

I would recommend this site to other students because it's located right on the UMASS campus and it is a quick way to get involved while gaining experience.

My advice to other students would be to explore many options- once you find the one you want, do everything you can to make sure you have it. Never take no for an answer.
